Lex Brodie's environmental intiatives grew out of our tradition of community outreach and started with the Lex Brodie's Tire Company Foundation's Learn & Earn Recycling program. This program shows local school children what they can do to help the environment and how recycling is "So Easy, a Caveman Can Do It!".
We then took a look at what Lex Brodie's could do to improve our environmental business practices. As a result, we worked with the City of Honolulu to put together our Best Business Practices on Handling Hazardous Waste from Automobiles. To include the community in these efforts, we created a public service campaign to help educated the public on how best to handle their vehicles hazardous materials.
Out of these initiatives, the GreenFleet Hawaii concept was born. The Lex Brodie's GreenFleet Hawaii Super Check Up was created to help simplify a vehicle's maintenance and reduce the impact it has on the environment by helping to reduce emissions through better performing components and reducing oil consumption and disposal.
And we didn't stop there! We encourgaged people to not only keep their cars running at optimal performance but to try and use their cars less by partaking in the GreenFleet Carpool Challenge.
And from there we included the reCYCLE energy, Tread for Bread and ecoPAPER route programs to encourage people to make healthy decisions for themselves that also help the community and environment.
With the partnership of Lex Brodie's Tire Company, the dedicated efforts of PuaDog Studio and the creative genius of Tom Flores, GreenFleet Hawaii as you see it today was bom!
It's exciting to see how you can encourage individuals to help themselves and thoses actions in turn help the environment and the community!
